Shiner Blonde

Past Friday seemed like one of those never ending days. The eve before spring break is the toughest for me…the final sprint before a well-deserved rest. I’ve been daydreaming the beers I’ll get to try this week. Anyhow, my final sprint was participating in Kalamazoo’s Art Hop. The first Friday of every month, Kalamazoo’s downtown becomes the venue for all sorts of events. Most businesses co-work with artists to expose their talents to the public…and in the process give away some free wine. Fontana ChamberArts hosted a spot during Art Hop and some awesome music was performed. With the help of a few students from Western Michigan University, the piece “Symphonic Poem for 100 Metronomes” by Gy├Ârgy Ligeti, was successfully performed a couple of times. I was impressed by the personality that each performance acquired and how it reached the spectators. People staring at 100 metronomes ‘click’ wildly can accomplish a beautiful hypnotic trance.
So after a long day filled of success, I can’t see a better way to wind down with a beer. I stopped at the corner shop and bought a six pack of Shiner Blonde. Spoetzl Brewery in Texas crafts beers that are somewhat similar to what I was accustomed in Mexico. Shiner Blonde is a classic American Style Lager with a high carbonation and a light soothing taste. If you are used to Budweiser, Coors or Miller this would be a great starting beer to the real world of drinking. Enjoy spring break with a few of these sluggers…
